The first time I ever heard of Chaga was from a Russian biology exchange student in the Queen Charlotte Islands, which are located off the north coast of British Columbia Canada, where we were buying Chanterelle mushrooms in 1999. After finding a very rare fungus there he called Ling Zhi a medicinal mushroom, he told me a very interesting story about another very potent medicinal mushroom that he and his family used to harvest in Russia he called Chaga and about the Chaga Trade with China. As great as the story was, I soon forgot all about it.
It was not until the summer of 2006 after returning home here to New Brunswick that I heard about this Chaga mushroom again. A company here in New Brunswick called Chatham Biotec Ltd. who makes cancer medicine from the ground Hemlock that grows here was buying Chaga from harvesters in our area No information was provided by them as to it’s medicinal properties, so I went on the internet of course to find what I could about this miracle mushroom. At that time my search came up with only one website that had any information about it at all. Can you guess what that company web site was called? You guessed it; www.chagatrade.ru based out of Russia. After reading what they had to say about the medicinal properties of this mushroom, I started harvesting it for myself ( I have been harvesting wild edible mushrooms since 1987 ) to see if it really did or would work for my high blood pressure and high sugar levels due to my type two diabetes. What I can and will say is this, after the first two months of drinking three glasses of Chaga tea every day, I no longer had high blood pressure and my sugar levels were under control, and have remained so for over three years now with daily use. This is my experience with Chaga and make no other claims as to it’s uses other than to say that it has dramatically improved the quality of my health and life.
Since the summer of 2006, largely to do with the information contained in the book “Cancer Ward” by the Nobel Prize award winning author Alexandr Solzhenitsyn who gives credit to drinking Chaga Tea for curing himself of stomach cancer, there are now literally thousands of web pages and web sites selling Chaga in various forms from all different parts of the world. To save filling up my pages with their information, simply google the word Chaga, and you will find what info you need.
We harvest & sell Chaga in it’s pure form only, either chunks or ground into powder, your choice! However we do not clean the Betulin rich-black outer part of the mushroom off as other people do, as recent studies of the mushroom shows that it is this part that holds the highest concentration of the anti-tumor rich betulinic acids
Instructions For Making Chaga Tea
For very potent tea, just put 3 heaping tbs. of Chaga powder straight into 2-liter pot of water and simmer (I use a coffee pot filled to the 12 cup level) for 12 to 14 hours. (Do not boil longer than 10 minutes) Then strain through coffee filter or cheesecloth. Drink hot or cold! This makes enough tea for two days, drinking 4 cups a day
The second method is to make a tea bag using a coffee filter. Add 3 tbs. into the coffee filter and using the elastic (provided with order) to tie the end of your tea bag. Simmer for 12 to 14 hours (no need to boil) with 2 liters of water.
This also makes enough tea for two days, drinking 4 cups per day. However, you can use the tea bag twice using this method. Also makes very good ice tea
Chaga is very mild in flavor, so you can add lemon & honey to flavor it or a sprig of mint is also good with some honey.
Here’s to a cup of good healthy Chaga tea!
